Packer’s Football And a New Family Member

This past month was a slow month for Ludtke Photography.  Not because there wasn’t any work out there but because my wife and I were expecting our second child  and being around for the birth was a big priority of mine.  Jonah Robert Ludtke was born on June 16th at 7 pounds 14 oz. He is happy and healthy and so are we.

I decided since I hadn’t really made any new work this past month that I would show some of my favorite football photos from the last NFL season.  Anyone who lives in or knows anything about Green Bay knows that this city eats, sleeps, and breathes Green Bay Packer football.  Football season around here starts in the summer when the Packers hold there various camps to gear up for the season. For the past 5 seasons I have had the opportunity to work for the Associated Press allowing me to work every home game. Here are some of my favorite shots from the 09-10 season.

Thanks for looking.

And Away We Go.

It’s always exciting to start something new.  For years now I have been a loyal reader of some great photography blogs, but it has taken me a long time to start my own. So here it is,  Matt Ludtke Photography has an official blog.  My goal is to fill these pages with my photos and videos, along with general thoughts and feeling about the world of photography and my own photo business.  Some of it might get techie and nerdy (because I some times am a techie nerd). Some of it might be very business oriented or very personal.  Some of it may be short or long-winded.   All I know is I am excited to have some fun with this blog.   I invite you to check back frequently and I hope you enjoy reading my blog as much as I enjoy reading the ones I follow.  So lets dive right in.

Some of my favorite photos are the ones made right off the cuff.  Most of the time commercial photography involves a lot of pre-production and post-production work to make a single photograph.  But sometimes it’s exciting to make a great photograph when you were never really trying to.  For example, a couple weeks back I decided to take my camera and a flash out side to just shoot some personal photos of my son Sam having fun on his new swing set.  I didn’t really expect to come away with much other than some fun snap shots to e-mail around to the family. What I did come away with though was one of my favorite photos I have ever taken of him.
