Green Bay Packers vs Miami Dolphins NFL Football Photos

This past Sunday the Pack took on the Dolphins and suffered another overtime loss for the second week in a row.  From a shooter’s stand point, you couldn’t have asked for a better October day to shoot football.  Here are my favorites.  Thanks for looking.

Green Bay Packers vs Detroit Lions NFL Football Photos

This past sunday the Green Bay Packers took on the Detroit Lions in what turned out to be a pretty close football game.  Unfortunately from a shooting standpoint, it seemed like I was always in the wrong place at the wrong time resulting in some key shots missed.  Anyone who has shot sports knows that you will have days like this.  Here are some frames I was happy with though. Thanks again for looking.

Green Bay Golf Invitational

This past Tuesday I had the opportunity to shoot the Green Bay Golf Invitational at the Green Bay Country Club for UW-Green Bay.  The course was a great place to shoot and the weather turned out to be better than expected.  Here are seven of my favorite shots.  Thanks for looking.

Tennis Portraits and Lighting Set up.

As I mentioned in my first post, I would occasionally share some of the lighting techniques I use to create certain images. Last weekend I had the opportunity to shoot a local high school’s top tennis player. We shot a couple portraits along with some action shots all under the same lighting.

The lighting set up was pretty straightforward. It consisted of three Elinchrom Style 600RX heads. The main light had a 27” beauty dish boomed out in front of the subject along with two heads with high performance reflectors on each side, set back a little behind the subject. Everything was powered with a Honda generator.

My assistant Matt Becker helped with the setup, as well as tossed balls to our subject. I shot with a Canon 1D mark IV with 17-40mm f4 L, 50mm f1.4, and 85mm f1.8 lenses. All the photos were processed in Photoshop CS3. Thanks for looking.

Packers vs Colts Preseason Football

Football is in full swing here in Green Bay.  I had the opportunity this past Thursday night to shoot my first football game of the season.  The Packers ended up dominating the Colts with a final score of 59-24.  Too bad it’s only preseason.  Here are some of my favorite shots from the game.  Thanks for looking.

EAA Airventure 2010

Going to the EAA Airventure fly-in is one of the things I look forward to the most during the summer.  It allows me to blend together two of my favorite things, photography and aviation.  In past years I have found myself almost a little too concerned with taking photos and felt like I missed out on the aviation aspect of why I was there.  This year I did bring a camera with me as I always do, but I tried to enjoy the event more and not concern myself with trying to always look for cool pictures.  The result of course is not a ton of great images to show off, but I did want to show four that I liked.  Thanks for looking.

Packer’s Football And a New Family Member

This past month was a slow month for Ludtke Photography.  Not because there wasn’t any work out there but because my wife and I were expecting our second child  and being around for the birth was a big priority of mine.  Jonah Robert Ludtke was born on June 16th at 7 pounds 14 oz. He is happy and healthy and so are we.

I decided since I hadn’t really made any new work this past month that I would show some of my favorite football photos from the last NFL season.  Anyone who lives in or knows anything about Green Bay knows that this city eats, sleeps, and breathes Green Bay Packer football.  Football season around here starts in the summer when the Packers hold there various camps to gear up for the season. For the past 5 seasons I have had the opportunity to work for the Associated Press allowing me to work every home game. Here are some of my favorite shots from the 09-10 season.

Thanks for looking.

And Away We Go.

It’s always exciting to start something new.  For years now I have been a loyal reader of some great photography blogs, but it has taken me a long time to start my own. So here it is,  Matt Ludtke Photography has an official blog.  My goal is to fill these pages with my photos and videos, along with general thoughts and feeling about the world of photography and my own photo business.  Some of it might get techie and nerdy (because I some times am a techie nerd). Some of it might be very business oriented or very personal.  Some of it may be short or long-winded.   All I know is I am excited to have some fun with this blog.   I invite you to check back frequently and I hope you enjoy reading my blog as much as I enjoy reading the ones I follow.  So lets dive right in.

Some of my favorite photos are the ones made right off the cuff.  Most of the time commercial photography involves a lot of pre-production and post-production work to make a single photograph.  But sometimes it’s exciting to make a great photograph when you were never really trying to.  For example, a couple weeks back I decided to take my camera and a flash out side to just shoot some personal photos of my son Sam having fun on his new swing set.  I didn’t really expect to come away with much other than some fun snap shots to e-mail around to the family. What I did come away with though was one of my favorite photos I have ever taken of him.
